Edmund MacDonald
Edmund MacDonald (1906-1951) was an American actor, active primarily as a prolific character actor during the 1930s and 1940s. His film career saw him specialize in supporting roles, often portraying antagonists, tough characters, or authority figures in a wide range of genres. His most significant works include appearances in high-profile films such as the western *Destry Rides Again* (1939), alongside James Stewart; the war film *Flying Tigers* (1942), with John Wayne; and especially the celebrated film noir *Detour* (1945), where his character is crucial to the plot's development. Although his career was not marked by major formal awards, his recognition lies in his consistent presence in over ninety productions and his ability to create memorable supporting characters, which made him a familiar face in classic Hollywood cinema. His career came to a premature end with his death at the age of 45.
