Edoardo Davesnes
Edoardo Davesnes, a French dancer, choreographer, and ballet master, trained at the Paris Opéra Ballet School, where he achieved the rank of principal dancer. His career is primarily associated with Italy, and specifically with the Teatro alla Scala in Milan, where from 1861 to 1868 he held the prestigious position of Director of the Ballet School, succeeding Carlo Blasis. As a choreographer, his most celebrated work is the ballet *Flik e Flok* (1861), often also attributed to his collaboration with Paolo Taglioni. He also distinguished himself with his restagings of masterpieces from the Romantic repertoire, such as *Giselle* and *La Sylphide*, adapted for Italian audiences. His contribution to maintaining the excellence of the La Scala school and to the dissemination of academic technique in Italy earned him important recognition, including his appointment as a Knight of the Order of the Crown of Italy.
