
Eduardo Aladro
Eduardo Aladro y Agápito (Madrid, 1849 – The Hague, 1918) was a Spanish diplomat, painter, and playwright. His brilliant diplomatic career led him to hold important posts in Europe, including ambassador to Vienna, Brussels, and The Hague. In parallel, he cultivated his passion for painting, training with masters such as Raimundo de Madrazo and distinguishing himself with his historical and genre canvases. Among his most noted works are "The Death of Alaric" and "The Baptism of the Prince of Viana," which were also successfully exhibited at the Paris Salon. For his artistic merits, he was elected a member of the Real Academia de Bellas Artes de San Fernando, while his institutional activities earned him numerous honors, including the Grand Cross of the Order of Charles III and the French Legion of Honour. He was also an author of plays, often signed under a pseudonym, completing the profile of a versatile artistic and institutional personality.
