Elio Crovetto (Genoa, 1926 – Genoa, 2000) was an Italian actor, a prolific character actor, and one of the most recognizable figures of post-war Italian-style comedy. Active from the mid-1950s, he worked with the major directors of the genre, including Steno, Mario Monicelli, Dino Risi, and Ettore Scola, appearing in iconic films such as "Un americano a Roma," "I soliti ignoti," "Il sorpasso," and "Brancaleone alle crociate." His career is inextricably linked to his collaboration with Paolo Villaggio, with whom he acted in several installments of the Fantozzi saga, such as "Il secondo tragico Fantozzi" and "Fantozzi contro tutti." In addition to cinema, he was also active in theater, especially in Genoese dialect theater, and in television. He is primarily recognized for his status as an indispensable supporting actor in Italian cinema, a performer capable of making his every appearance memorable, becoming a familiar and beloved face to the general public.
