Elisabeth Christensen (1887–1955) was a Norwegian explorer, recognized as one of the first women to reach Antarctica. The wife of shipowner and whaling magnate Lars Christensen, she participated in several Antarctic expeditions that he organized and financed. In 1931, aboard the ship *Thorshavn*, she was among the first women to sight the continent and its ice shelves. She took part in a subsequent expedition during the 1936-1937 season, during which she became one of the first women to land on Antarctic territory. The Christensen expeditions were fundamental to the mapping of vast areas and to the consolidation of Norwegian territorial claims on the continent. Her main historical recognition lies in her pioneering role as an explorer in a field exclusively dominated by men at the time, contributing to breaking down gender barriers in polar exploration.
