Elisabeth Risdon, born Daisy Cartwright Risdon (1887-1958), was a British actress whose career spanned the stage and screen for over fifty years. She began her stage training in England, becoming a prominent member of Annie Horniman's renowned repertory company in Manchester. She was also one of the founding members of the British Actors' Equity Association in 1930, a testament to her professional standing. After a solid career on Broadway, she moved to Hollywood, where she established herself as one of the most prolific and reliable character actresses of the Golden Age. Specializing in supporting roles, she often played maternal figures, aunts, or high-society women. Her extensive filmography includes appearances in notable films such as *Fury* (1940), *High Sierra* (1941), *Random Harvest* (1942), *The Woman in the Window* (1944), and *The Egg and I* (1947). Although she did not receive major individual awards, her contribution to cinema is defined by her consistent presence and the professionalism she demonstrated in over 140 films.
