Elizabeth Inglis, born Desiree Mary Lucy Hawkins (Colchester, 10 July 1913 – Santa Barbara, 25 August 2007), was a British actress primarily active between the 1930s and the early 1940s. Her film career began in England, where she secured a part in Alfred Hitchcock's film *The 39 Steps* (1935). After moving to Hollywood, she signed a contract with Warner Bros. and achieved her greatest recognition for her role as Adele Ainsworth in the celebrated film noir *The Letter* (1940), directed by William Wyler, in which she acted alongside Bette Davis. Her filmography also includes titles such as *River's End* (1940) and *Tugboat Annie Sails Again* (1940). She retired from acting in the mid-1940s after her marriage to television executive Sylvester "Pat" Weaver to focus on her family. Although she did not receive any major awards, her performance in *The Letter* remains her best-known and most acclaimed contribution, solidifying her place in the classic cinema of the era. She was the mother of actress Sigourney Weaver.
