Ella La Cour (1854-1935) was a Danish actress and a prominent figure in silent film. She began her career in the theatre before transitioning to film, becoming one of the most prolific and recognizable character actresses at the Nordisk Film production company. Specializing in roles as mature, aristocratic women or motherly figures, she appeared in over one hundred films between 1910 and 1923, working alongside the biggest stars of the era, such as Asta Nielsen and Valdemar Psilander. Her most notable performances include those in internationally significant films such as *Den hvide slavehandel* (1910), *Afgrunden* (1910), and the epic *Atlantis* (1913), directed by August Blom. Although she did not receive formal awards, which were typical of a later era, her main recognition was the fundamental role she played in defining supporting acting during the golden age of Danish cinema, solidifying her reputation as a versatile and indispensable performer.
