Emiko Azuma, born in Yokohama in 1952, is a Japanese manga artist (mangaka) known for her historical-themed works and her deep connection with Italian culture. She achieved international fame with the monumental series *Alexander* (アレクサンダー), a manga dedicated to the life of Alexander the Great, praised for its rigorous historical research and refined art style. Her body of work includes other major historical works, such as *Eroica - The Glory of Napoleon* (エロイカ), in which she explores the life of the French emperor. In addition to her work as an author, she has created illustrations for special editions of literary classics, including Dante Alighieri's *The Divine Comedy*, consolidating her role as a cultural bridge between Japan and Italy. Her career has been marked by prestigious awards; in 1997, she won the 42nd Shogakukan Manga Award, one of the most important awards in the industry in Japan, in the shōjo category for the manga *Tenshi no Kajitsu*. Her style, which combines manga aesthetics with meticulous research, has made her a leading figure in the landscape of author-driven comics.
