Emile Boreo
Emile Boreo, born Emile Schleizer (Krotoszyn, August 1, 1885 – Los Angeles, July 27, 1951), was a Polish-American actor. He began his career in vaudeville and musical comedy before moving to Hollywood with the advent of sound film. Specializing in character roles, he became a familiar face in American cinema of the 1930s and 1940s, often cast as European characters such as waiters, innkeepers, or maître d's, utilizing his accent and expressive facial features. His most notable appearances include *The Mark of Zorro* (1940), as the innkeeper Don Miguel, and *The Shanghai Gesture* (1941), in which he played the croupier Boris. Other significant roles include performances in *Cafe Metropole* (1937) and the comedy *Midnight* (1939). Although he did not receive any major formal awards, Boreo was a prolific and well-regarded character actor whose consistent presence contributed to the success of numerous films from Hollywood's Golden Age, solidifying his reputation as a reliable and versatile performer.
