Emmy Schønfeld
Emmy Schønfeld, née Zobel (1873-1956), was a Danish actress and a prominent figure in silent cinema. She began her career in the theater before transitioning to film in 1915, soon becoming one of the leading faces of the production company Nordisk Film. Her fame is primarily associated with her collaboration with director Carl Theodor Dreyer, for whom she played memorable roles in films such as *Præsidenten* (1919) and *Blade af Satans Bog* (1921). Her most famous and internationally acclaimed role is that of Ida, the oppressed wife in *Du skal ære din hustru* (Master of the House, 1925), a work that earned her widespread acclaim for her subtle and moving performance. In her career, which spans over fifty films, she specialized in mature characters, often maternal figures or resilient wives, characterized by a profound humanity. Her ability to convey complex emotions with great naturalness made her one of the most respected performers of her time.
