
Eve Arden
Eve Arden, born Eunice Mary Quedens, was an American actress whose long career spanned theater, radio, film, and television. She became celebrated for her ability to portray supporting characters with a biting wit and a heart of gold. Her film career includes memorable roles in movies such as *Stage Door* (1937) and *Mildred Pierce* (1945), for which she earned an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress. Her greatest success came with the role of Connie Brooks, the witty teacher and protagonist of the sitcom *Our Miss Brooks*, first on radio and then on television from 1952 to 1956. This performance earned her an Emmy Award in 1954 for Best Lead Actress in a Comedy Series. She continued to work for decades, also becoming known to younger audiences as Principal McGee in *Grease* (1978) and its sequel. Her versatility and impeccable comic timing made her one of Hollywood's most beloved character actresses.
