Fatoumata Coulibaly, born in Bamako, Mali, is a prominent actress, director, journalist, and activist. Coming from a family of musicians, she began her career working for the Office of Radio and Television of Mali (ORTM). She became a leading figure in African cinema, gaining international recognition for her role in Ousmane Sembène's film “Moolaadé” (2004), which denounces the practice of female genital mutilation. In addition to her career on screen, Coulibaly is one of the most influential voices in the fight against FGM, a commitment she has pursued for decades through her work in the media, her activism, and her film production, which includes directing films such as “N'Golo dit Papa.” Her artistic work and social commitment are deeply intertwined, using cinema as a powerful tool for awareness and change.
