Florense Simoni
Florense Simoni (Rome, 21 October 1925 – Rome, 23 September 2019) was an Italian actress, voice actress, and theatre director. Considered one of the most significant performers in post-war Italian theatre, her career took off working with internationally renowned directors such as Luchino Visconti and Giorgio Strehler, establishing herself as a "grand dame" of the stage. She became a pioneering and beloved face of state television, participating in celebrated RAI television dramas that made television history, most notably *Il mulino del Po* (1963). Her work as a voice actress was also intense and acclaimed: she was the Italian voice of film icons such as Bette Davis, Joan Crawford, and Katharine Hepburn. Throughout her long and prestigious career, she received numerous accolades, including the Nastro d'Argento for dubbing and the honor of Commander of the Italian Republic.
