Florin Zamfirescu

Florin Zamfirescu, born on April 12, 1949, in Călimănești, is a Romanian actor, director, and university professor, a leading figure in national theatre and cinema. He graduated in 1971 from the "I.L. Caragiale" Institute of Theatre and Film Arts in Bucharest and has built a prolific theatre career, particularly at the Odeon Theatre, where he also served as director. In cinema, he became well-known for memorable roles in films such as "Filip cel Bun" (1975), "De ce trag clopotele, Mitică?" (1981), and especially for his portrayal of Niculae Moromete in the cult film "Moromeții" (1987). His work also extends to film directing, with works such as "Orient Express" (2004), and to an important academic career as a professor and rector of the National University of Theatre and Film Arts of Bucharest (UNATC). For his artistic contributions, he has received numerous awards and accolades, including the Gopo Lifetime Achievement Award, consolidating his status as an icon of Romanian culture.
