Folker Bohnet

Folker Bohnet (Berlin, 7 August 1937 – Hamburg, 6 October 2020) was a German actor, theatre director, and playwright. He gained international fame at a young age for his role as the soldier Hans Horber in Bernhard Wicki's acclaimed anti-war film *The Bridge* (Die Brücke, 1959), which won the Golden Globe for Best Foreign Film. His acting career continued successfully both in theatre, particularly at the Thalia Theater in Hamburg, and on television, where he appeared in numerous cult crime series such as *Derrick* and *Tatort*. From the 1980s onwards, he focused mainly on directing and writing for the stage. As a playwright, he specialized in light comedy, writing over a dozen plays that were performed very successfully in German-speaking theatres, often directed by himself. His skill in creating witty dialogue and effective plots made him one of Germany's most successful authors of commercial theatre.
