
Frances Dade
Frances Dade was an American actress, primarily active in the early years of sound film. In 1931, she was selected as one of the WAMPAS Baby Stars, an annual honor for young actresses considered most promising. She is best remembered for her role as Lucy Weston in the classic horror film *Dracula* (1931), alongside Bela Lugosi, a performance that solidified her fame. Her brief but significant film career also includes appearances in films such as *Raffles* (1930), with Ronald Colman, and the comedy *The Devil to Pay!* (1930). Born in Philadelphia, she began her career on Broadway before moving to Hollywood. After marrying the wealthy Brock Van Every in 1932, she retired from acting to focus on her family, ending a career that included about a dozen films.
