
François Perrot
François Perrot (27 February 1924 – 20 January 2019) was a French actor and a prolific figure in cinema, theatre, and television. Known for his imposing physique and authoritative voice, he specialized in playing roles of power and authority, such as military officers, industrialists, and politicians. His theatre career took off in the post-war period, when he co-founded the Compagnie du Grenier-Hussenot. In cinema, he worked with some of the greatest French directors, including Henri Verneuil on "The Body of My Enemy," Costa-Gavras on "Z," and Bertrand Tavernier on "The Clockmaker of St. Paul." His most popular performances also include Francis Veber's "The Goat" and Michel Lang's "L'Hôtel de la plage." For his role in Tavernier's "Life and Nothing But," he received a César Award nomination for Best Supporting Actor in 1990. His filmography includes over one hundred and fifty appearances across film and television, establishing him as one of the most recognizable character actors of 20th-century French cinema.
