Françoise Berd, born Françoise Bernadette Côté (Saint-Pacôme, 1923 – Montréal, 2001), was a Canadian actress and a prominent figure in Québec theatre and cinema. She began her career on stage, becoming a key performer in the works of Michel Tremblay, particularly in the original production of the celebrated play *Les Belles-sœurs*, directed by André Brassard. Her transition to cinema saw her collaborate with major directors, establishing herself as a versatile character actress. Among her most significant performances are the films *Le polygraphe* (1996) by Robert Lepage, *Maelström* (2000) by Denis Villeneuve, and *La Turbulence des fluides* (2002), released posthumously. Her career was crowned with major awards: for her role in *Maelström*, she won the Genie Award for Best Supporting Actress, Canada's most prestigious film award. She also received a posthumous Jutra Award for her performance in *La Turbulence des fluides*, consolidating her legacy as one of the most esteemed actresses of her generation.
