
Frédéric de Pasquale
Frédéric de Pasquale (Paris, March 28, 1931 – Rouen, December 17, 2001) was a French actor. His film career took off in the 1960s, landing his first leading role in Robert Enrico's film *La Belle Vie* (1963), a work that won the prestigious Prix Jean Vigo. He achieved international fame playing the antagonist Alain Charnier, nicknamed "Frog One," in William Friedkin's acclaimed crime thriller *The French Connection* (1971), alongside Gene Hackman. This role remains the most iconic of his filmography. His other significant performances in French cinema include the films *Le Pacha* (1968) with Jean Gabin and *Jeff* (1969) with Alain Delon, consolidating his image as a versatile actor in the crime and drama genres. Also active in numerous television productions, he continued to work steadily for over four decades until his death.
