Gervase Duan "G. D." Spradlin (August 31, 1920 – July 24, 2011) was an American actor. Before embarking on his acting career later in life, he worked as a lawyer and an oil producer, bringing an air of authority to his screen roles. He is best known for his portrayals of powerful and often ambiguous characters. Among his most celebrated performances are the corrupt Senator Pat Geary in *The Godfather Part II* (1974) and General Corman, who assigns the mission to Captain Willard in *Apocalypse Now* (1979), both directed by Francis Ford Coppola. His filmography also includes significant roles in films such as *The Champ* (1979), *The Formula* (1980), *Dick Tracy* (1990), and as Reverend Lemon in Tim Burton's *Ed Wood* (1994). Although he did not receive any major awards, Spradlin established himself as a highly reliable character actor, specializing in figures of power and authority in American cinema and working with some of the most important directors of his generation.
