Gabriel Dell
Gabriel Dell, born Gabriel del Vecchio (1919-1988), was an American actor, known primarily for being one of the original members of the Dead End Kids, a group of young actors who emerged from the 1935 Broadway production *Dead End*. He reprised his role in the 1937 film adaptation, which launched a long series of films in which the group appeared under different names, including the East Side Kids and The Bowery Boys. Moving away from his "street tough" image, Dell transitioned into a successful career as a character actor, showcasing his versatility. On stage, he earned a Tony Award nomination in 1957 for his performance in the musical *L'il Abner*. His later filmography includes roles in films such as *Earthquake* (1974), while on television he was a constant presence, appearing in series like *Kojak* and *Barney Miller* and holding a regular role in the sitcom *The Corner Bar*. His career exemplifies a successful transition from a group's teen idol to a respected actor.
