
Gary Riley
Gary Riley, born in St. Louis, Missouri, on May 19, 1963, is an American actor whose career was primarily active in the 1980s. He is best known for his role as Charlie Hogan, a member of the gang of bullies, in the cult coming-of-age film *Stand by Me* (1986), directed by Rob Reiner. His other significant roles include Dave Frazier in the comedy *Summer School* (1987) and a part in John Hughes' *Planes, Trains and Automobiles* (1987). For his work in *Stand by Me*, he shared a Young Artist Award in 1987 with the rest of the young cast for Best Young Ensemble Cast in a Feature Film. After participating in a few other film and television projects, his acting career effectively ended in the early 1990s when he retired from acting.
