George Beranger
George Beranger, born George André de Beranger, was an Australian actor, director, and screenwriter, active primarily during the silent film era. His career took off in Hollywood under the direction of D.W. Griffith, for whom he acted in landmark films such as *The Birth of a Nation* (1915) and *Intolerance* (1916). Specializing in supporting roles, he often portrayed aristocratic or eccentric characters in over one hundred films, including *The Bat* (1926). Alongside his acting career, he also directed some films in the early 1920s, such as *Burn 'Em Up Barnes* (1921). With the advent of sound, his career continued with minor, often uncredited roles until 1950. Although he did not receive any formal awards, his recognition lies in his lasting contribution to early cinema and his prolific collaboration with Griffith, which established him as a familiar and versatile face of his era.
