George K. Arthur
George K. Arthur (1899–1985) was a British actor, comedian, and producer, best known for his career in American silent cinema. After starting in English theater, he moved to Hollywood in the 1920s, where he achieved considerable popularity as part of the comedy duo Dane & Arthur, alongside actor Karl Dane. Together, they starred in a series of successful films for MGM, including *The Boob* (1926) and *Rookies* (1927). With the advent of sound, the duo's popularity declined, leading Arthur to gradually retire from acting to focus on film distribution and production. In this second phase of his career, he earned a major honor: in 1957, he won the Academy Award for Best Short Subject for producing the film *The Bespoke Overcoat*. For his contribution to the motion picture industry, he was honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
