George Reeves

George Reeves (1914-1959) was an American actor primarily known for playing Superman. His film career began in the 1930s, appearing in numerous B-movies and serials. He often played supporting roles such as the honest hero, the good guy, or the leading man in minor productions.

Among his notable early appearances was that of Stuart Tarleton in "Gone with the Wind" (1939). He also appeared in films such as "So Proudly We Hail!" (1943) and "Lydia" (1941).

Although his fame is linked to the TV series "The Adventures of Superman" (1952-1958), he starred in the initial feature film "Superman and the Mole Men" (1951), which effectively launched the series. The role of Superman cemented his status, but it also largely overshadowed the rest of his filmography, making him a superhero icon.
