George Sewell (1924-2007) was a British actor, known for his "tough guy" roles and his deep, distinctive voice. He began his career relatively late, joining Joan Littlewood's Theatre Workshop. However, he is primarily remembered for his television roles, playing Colonel Alec Freeman in the cult science fiction series *UFO* (1970-1971) and Detective Chief Inspector Alan Craven in the police drama *Special Branch* (1973-1974).
