
Georges Géret
Georges Géret, born Antoine Garet (Lyon, 18 October 1924 – Paris, 7 April 1996), was a French theatre and film actor. Trained at the Théâtre National Populaire under the direction of Jean Vilar, he established himself as one of the most esteemed character actors in French cinema, thanks to a remarkable stage presence and an imposing physique that made him ideal for roles of rough, complex, or menacing characters. His film career was marked by collaborations with renowned directors. Among his most significant performances are those in *God's Thunder* (*Le Tonnerre de Dieu*, 1965) by Denys de La Patellière, alongside Jean Gabin, and in *Z* (1969) by Costa-Gavras. He also appeared in international productions such as *The Day of the Jackal* (1973) and in French cinema classics such as *The Old Gun* (*Le vieux fusil*, 1975). For his role in *God's Thunder*, he won the Best Actor award at the Mar del Plata International Film Festival, establishing his talent on an international level.
