Georges Metaxa (Bucharest, September 11, 1899 – Monroe, December 8, 1950) was a Romanian actor and singer, active primarily in the United Kingdom and the United States. Known for his tenor voice and elegant stage presence, he achieved fame in London's West End originating the role of Carl Linden in Noël Coward's celebrated operetta *Bitter Sweet* (1929). His career continued successfully on Broadway and later in Hollywood, where he specialized in roles as charming European gentlemen. His most memorable contribution to cinema is his portrayal of orchestra leader Ricardo Romero in the classic musical *Swing Time* (1936), in which he acted alongside Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers. His filmography also includes titles such as *The Secret of Stamboul* (1936) and *Hi Diddle Diddle* (1943). While he did not receive any major formal awards, his acclaim derives from the success he achieved in the theaters of London and New York and from his participation in iconic Hollywood productions of the era.
