Giancarlo Vigorelli (Milan, June 24, 1913 – Marina di Pietrasanta, September 16, 2005) was an influential Italian literary critic, journalist, and writer. A central figure in the cultural landscape of the second half of the 20th century, alongside his journalistic work for publications such as *L'Italia* and *Il Tempo*, he held important institutional positions, such as secretary of the National Union of Writers and, most notably, president of the National Center for Manzoni Studies. Considered one of the foremost "Manzonisti" (Manzoni scholars) of his time, he dedicated fundamental essays to the great novelist. His vast body of essays includes notable titles such as *Il gesuita proibito* (1963), an intellectual biography of Pierre Teilhard de Chardin, and the collection *Manzoni pro e contro* (1975-1976). For decades, he was a key figure on the jury of the Strega Prize, influencing its decisions. For his contribution to the dissemination of Italian culture, he was awarded the Gold Medal for Merit in Culture and Art.
