Gina Marangoni
Gina Marangoni (Verona, 1896 – Milan, 1980) was an Italian educator, author, and popularizer, considered one of the pioneers of modern home economics and consumer protection in Italy. Her career is inextricably linked to the publication of her *Manuale di economia domestica* (Home Economics Manual) in 1934, a work that became a point of reference for generations of women, promoting a scientific and rational approach to home management, from nutrition to hygiene. In addition to this foundational text, she authored numerous other publications on domestic culture and nutritional education. Her commitment extended beyond writing: in 1946, she founded the Movimento Italiano Casalinghe (MOICA), an association aimed at valuing domestic work and promoting awareness of consumer rights. For her significant social and educational contribution, she received several awards, including the Ambrogino d'oro, the highest honor conferred by the Municipality of Milan. Her legacy lies in elevating home economics to a discipline worthy of study and in laying the foundations for a modern consumer movement.
