Halina Gryglaszewska (Kraków, June 13, 1917 – Kraków, June 18, 2010) was a Polish theatre actress and director, one of the most influential figures in 20th-century Polish theatre. Associated with the stages of Kraków for nearly her entire career, she was a prominent artist, first at the Juliusz Słowacki Theatre and later, for decades, at the Stary Teatr. As an actress, she is celebrated for her performances in plays by classic and modern authors, including Ibsen, Chekhov, and Słowacki, distinguishing herself through the psychological depth of her characters. Concurrently, she pursued a notable career as a director and a professor at the Ludwik Solski State Higher School of Theatre in Kraków, training entire generations of actors. For her extraordinary contribution to national culture, she received the highest Polish honours, including the Commander's Cross of the Order of Polonia Restituta and the Gold Medal for Merit to Culture – Gloria Artis.
