
Halina Kwiatkowska
Halina Kwiatkowska (25 April 1921 – 12 November 2020) was a Polish theatre and film actress, pedagogue, and writer. Associated for much of her artistic life with the Stary Theatre in Kraków, where she became one of its most respected figures, her career was distinguished by numerous performances in works from the classical and contemporary repertoire. In addition to her stage work, she authored memoirs, including the well-known "Wielki Kolega" (The Great Colleague), in which she chronicled her long-standing friendship with Karol Wojtyła, the future Pope John Paul II, which began during their youth. For her significant contribution to Polish culture, she received prestigious honors, including the Knight's Cross of the Order of Polonia Restituta and the Gold Medal for Merit to Culture – Gloria Artis, which attest to her importance in the country's artistic landscape.
