
Harry Baer
Harry Baer, born Harry Zöttl (Pielenhofen, September 27, 1947), is a German actor, producer, and director. His career is inextricably linked to that of director Rainer Werner Fassbinder, for whom he was one of the closest collaborators and key actors. Starting in the late 1960s, he appeared in many of Fassbinder's films, including *Gods of the Plague* (1970), *The Merchant of Four Seasons* (1972), *Lola* (1981), and *Lili Marleen* (1981), often also working as an assistant director. In 1977, he won the Deutscher Filmpreis, Germany's highest film award, for Best Actor for his performance in Hans W. Geißendörfer's *The Wild Duck*. After Fassbinder's death, he continued his acting career in film and television, also directing the feature film *Bas-Boris Bode* (1985). He remains an emblematic figure of the New German Cinema, known for his versatility and intense screen presence.
