Harvey Lembeck
Harvey Lembeck (Brooklyn, April 15, 1923 – Los Angeles, January 5, 1982) was an American actor and comedian. His career began on Broadway, where he gained significant recognition for his role in the stage play *Stalag 17*, for which he won a Theatre World Award in 1952. On television, he became a well-known face playing Corporal Rocco Barbella in the popular sitcom *The Phil Silvers Show*, but the role that established him with the general public was that of Eric Von Zipper, the comedic and clumsy leader of a motorcycle gang in the 1960s *Beach Party* film series, alongside Frankie Avalon and Annette Funicello. In addition to his numerous film and television appearances, Lembeck also successfully taught comedy acting. He founded a respected improvisation workshop in Los Angeles, attended by future talents such as Robin Williams and John Ritter, leaving a significant legacy as an instructor as well.
