Hayden Rorke
Hayden Rorke, born William Henry Rorke (Brooklyn, October 23, 1910 – Toluca Lake, August 19, 1987), was an American actor. After beginning his career on Broadway, he moved to Hollywood, establishing himself as a prolific character actor in films such as *An American in Paris* (1951) and *Pillow Talk* (1959). His fame, however, is inextricably linked to the role of Dr. Alfred Bellows in the sitcom *I Dream of Jeannie*, which aired from 1965 to 1970. His portrayal of the NASA psychiatrist, perennially confused and suspicious of Major Nelson's behavior, earned him enormous popularity and a 1967 Emmy Award nomination for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series. Rorke continued to work primarily in television, reprising his most famous role in subsequent films, and he remained the iconic face of that character for the general public.
