Henry Hull was an American character actor with a long and prolific career that spanned both stage and screen. He began his career on the stage, achieving great success on Broadway in the role of Jeeter Lester in the original production of *Tobacco Road*, a character he played for several years. In film, he is best remembered for portraying the first cinematic werewolf in the classic horror film *Werewolf of London* (1935). His versatile filmography also includes notable roles in films such as *Great Expectations* (1934), where he played Abel Magwitch, *High Sierra* (1941), and Alfred Hitchcock's *Lifeboat* (1944).
