Herbert Edelman, known as Herb Edelman, was an American actor whose career was marked by numerous character roles in film and television. He rose to prominence in the 1960s with roles in major film adaptations of Neil Simon's works, such as Harry Pepper in *Barefoot in the Park* (1967) and Vinnie in *The Odd Couple* (1968). Although active on the big screen, it was on television that he became a familiar face to audiences. His most celebrated role was that of Stanley Zbornak, Dorothy's unfaithful but at times lovable ex-husband on the sitcom *The Golden Girls*, a performance that earned him two consecutive Emmy Award nominations for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Comedy Series. He also co-starred in the series *The Good Guys* (1968-1970) and appeared in countless other successful shows, including *Murder, She Wrote* and *St. Elsewhere*, solidifying his reputation as one of the most reliable and recognizable supporting actors of his generation.
