
Hichem Mesbah
Hichem Mesbah, born in 1965 in Sétif, is an Algerian writer, academic, and journalist. His career is marked by a deep connection between his literary output and his academic work. He has authored several works of fiction, written primarily in French, which explore themes of memory, identity, and the complexities of contemporary Algerian society with an incisive style. His most notable works include the short story collection *La Dernière Nuit du monde* and the novel *Une histoire algérienne*. He has received major awards for his work: in 2012, he was awarded the Prix de la nouvelle for *La Dernière Nuit du monde*, and in 2018, he won the prestigious Prix Mohammed Dib for *Une histoire algérienne*, consolidating his position among the significant voices of French-language Maghrebi literature.
