Hugh Michael Jackman, born in Sydney on October 12, 1968, is an internationally renowned Australian actor, singer, and producer. He achieved worldwide fame for his portrayal of the superhero Wolverine in the *X-Men* film series, a role he held for nearly two decades, from 2000 until the 2017 film *Logan*. His career is characterized by a remarkable versatility, which has allowed him to excel in action films as well as in dramatic and musical roles. For his acclaimed performance as Jean Valjean in the 2012 film adaptation of *Les Misérables*, he won the Golden Globe Award for Best Actor – Motion Picture Musical or Comedy and received his first Academy Award nomination.
