
Ilka Chase
Ilka Chase (1905-1978) was an American actress, novelist, radio host, and playwright, known for her elegance and wit. Her career spanned multiple fields: on Broadway, she achieved success in productions such as *The Women* (1936), while in film, she appeared in notable movies such as *Now, Voyager* (1942), *The Big Knife* (1955), and *Ocean's 11* (1960), often portraying sophisticated women. Concurrently, Chase established herself as a prolific author, publishing numerous novels, including the bestseller *In Bed We Cry* (1943), which she herself adapted for the stage and starred in. She also wrote several autobiographies, such as *Past Imperfect*. Her versatility extended to radio, where she hosted the popular program *Luncheon at the Waldorf*. For her contributions to the entertainment industry, she received two stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, one for television and one for radio.
