Ion Fiscuteanu
Ion Fiscuteanu (Kișineu-Criș, November 19, 1937 – Târgu Mureș, December 8, 2007) was a Romanian theatre and film actor. His career developed primarily on the stage of the National Theatre of Târgu Mureș, where he worked for decades, performing in numerous classical and modern roles. Although he had acted in over thirty films, he achieved international fame late in life with his leading role as Dante Remus Lăzărescu in Cristi Puiu's 2005 film *The Death of Mr. Lăzărescu*. For this universally acclaimed performance, he received significant recognition, including the Best Actor award at the Copenhagen International Film Festival and a nomination for the European Film Awards. His filmography also includes roles in notable films such as Lucian Pintilie's *The Oak* (1992). His performance as Lăzărescu is considered one of the most significant moments of the Romanian New Wave.
