
Irving Bacon
Irving Bacon (St. Joseph, September 6, 1893 – Hollywood, February 5, 1965) was a prolific American character actor, one of the most familiar faces of Hollywood's Golden Age. With a career spanning over four decades, he appeared in more than 500 film and television productions, specializing in supporting roles. He predominantly played common men such as mailmen, clerks, bartenders, or drivers, lending authenticity and a touch of realism to his scenes. His career was closely linked to director Frank Capra, for whom he acted in iconic films such as *Mr. Deeds Goes to Town* (1936), *You Can't Take It with You* (1938), *Mr. Smith Goes to Washington* (1939), and *It's a Wonderful Life* (1946). Another of his well-known and recurring roles was that of the mailman Mr. Beasley in the popular *Blondie* film series. Although he did not receive any major individual awards, his recognition lies in his constant presence and the essential contribution he provided to countless film classics.
