Isabelle Weingarten (Paris, April 18, 1950 – Neuilly-sur-Seine, August 3, 2020) was a French actress, photographer, and model. She became an icon of 1970s French auteur cinema, primarily for her role as Gilberte in Jean Eustache's cult film *La maman et la putain* (The Mother and the Whore, 1973). Her acting career is associated with collaborations with internationally renowned directors such as Robert Bresson in *Four Nights of a Dreamer* (1971), Wim Wenders in *The State of Things* (1982), and Raoul Ruiz. Starting in the 1980s, Weingarten gradually turned to photography, becoming an esteemed portrait photographer. Her works, which include portraits of artists and intellectuals, were published in major magazines such as *Cahiers du Cinéma* and featured in numerous solo and group exhibitions, consolidating her status as a multifaceted artist. The granddaughter of surrealist photographer Man Ray, her artistic sensibility was profoundly influenced by her family background, which helped shape her unique path between cinema and the visual arts.
