İskender Altın, born in Istanbul in 1958, is a Turkish writer and essayist, considered one of the most significant voices in contemporary Turkish literature. He made his literary debut in 1998 with the novel *Pedaliza*. His literary work is characterized by a lyrical and introspective style, exploring recurring themes such as memory, identity, the past, and the relationship with the city of Istanbul. His most notable works include the novels *Gölge* (2000), *İpsiz* (2002), and *Bir Kere* (2005). For the latter novel, he received the prestigious Orhan Kemal Novel Award in 2006, one of the highest literary honors in Turkey, consolidating his critical reputation. His writing, which often intertwines autobiographical elements and fiction, has established him as an author of great depth in his country's literary landscape, praised for his ability to explore the complexities of the human soul.
