Jack Goode
Jack Goode, born Jack Goof (Columbus, September 13, 1908 – Los Angeles, June 12, 1944), was an American actor. Active primarily in the 1930s and 1940s, he specialized as a character actor in the comedy and musical genres, often working for RKO Pictures. His typical persona was that of a mild-mannered, nervous, or easily confused man, which he portrayed with a distinctive comedic style. Among his most famous roles is that of hotel manager Alberto Beddini in *Top Hat* (1935), alongside Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers, with whom he also appeared in *The Gay Divorcee* (1934). His filmography also includes appearances in classics such as *Bringing Up Baby* (1938) and collaborations with the comedy duo Wheeler & Woolsey. Although he did not receive any major awards, Goode is now recognized as a familiar face and a reliable supporting player in classic American cinema, whose career was cut short by his death at just 35 years of age.
