James Barrie Sikking (1934–2024) was an American actor. With a career spanning over five decades, he established himself as a prolific and respected character actor, specializing in roles as authority figures such as doctors, police officers, and military personnel. His most famous role was that of Lieutenant Howard Hunter in the television series *Hill Street Blues* (1981–1987), a portrayal that earned him several Emmy Award nominations for Best Supporting Actor.
