
Jardel Filho
Jardel Jeredy da Silva Filho, known as Jardel Filho (São Paulo, July 24, 1928 – Rio de Janeiro, February 19, 1982), was a Brazilian actor, considered one of the most representative figures in his country's cinema and theater. He began his career on the stage, distinguishing himself at the prestigious Teatro Brasileiro de Comédia (TBC), before establishing himself as a central figure in the Cinema Novo movement. His filmography includes fundamental works of Brazilian cinema; his most memorable performances include those in *O Pagador de Promessas* (1962), winner of the Palme d'Or at Cannes, Glauber Rocha's *Terra em Transe* (1967), and the surreal *Macunaíma* (1969). Also active in television in popular telenovelas such as *O Bem-Amado*, his last major performance was in the celebrated *Pixote: A Lei do Mais Fraco* (1980), a role that earned him the Kikito de Ouro for Best Supporting Actor at the Gramado Film Festival. For his theatrical work, he was also awarded important accolades, including the Molière Prize, a testament to his versatility and talent.
