Jarl Kulle (1927-1997) was a Swedish actor and director, considered one of the most important figures in his country's theatre and cinema. His career took off at Dramaten, the Royal Dramatic Theatre in Stockholm, where he distinguished himself with his charismatic performances in classic and modern plays. He achieved international fame through his prolific collaboration with director Ingmar Bergman, playing memorable roles in films such as *Smiles of a Summer Night* (1955), *The Devil's Eye* (1960), and especially *Fanny and Alexander* (1982), in which his character Gustav Adolf Ekdahl remains iconic. His versatile filmography also includes numerous popular Swedish comedies and dramas, and he was also active as a film director. Among the many awards he received, a highlight is the Guldbagge Award for Best Actor in a Leading Role for his performance in the film *The Bookseller Who Gave Up Bathing* (1969), the highest honor in Swedish cinema.
