Jean-Pierre Bouyxou

Jean-Pierre Bouyxou, born on January 16, 1946, is a French writer, film critic, and director. A multifaceted figure in the French counterculture since the 1960s, his name is primarily associated with genre cinema and specialized criticism. As a director and screenwriter, often in close collaboration with Jean Rollin, he helped define a certain style of fantasy and erotic cinema, creating works such as *Satan bouche un coin* (1975) and appearing as an actor in numerous films by Rollin. His work as an essayist is equally significant, having published volumes dedicated to fantasy, horror, and erotic cinema, in which he analyzes the imagery and marginal currents of the art form. For his scholarly work, he has received major awards, including the Grand Prix de l'Imaginaire in 2013 for the essay *L'Envers du décor: Mémoires d'un cinéaste de l'underground*. His career is a testament to his constant commitment to the promotion and analysis of so-called "cinéma bis".
